These terms apply to lessons booked with MIA Swim School ("we", "us") and to the use of this website. By booking a lesson or using the site, you agree to them. "Client" means the person who books the lessons; "swimmer" means the person taking them, who may be the client's child.
Our services
MIA Swim School provides private swim lessons for babies, children, teens and adults at the client's home, condo or community pool in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Lesson day, time, length and instructor are confirmed when you book.
Booking and payment
A lesson is booked once we confirm the time with you. Rates are quoted individually based on lesson length, frequency and location, and payment terms are agreed when you book. Lesson packages are for the swimmer they were booked for unless we agree otherwise.
Cancellations and rescheduling
- Please give at least 12 hours' notice to cancel or move a lesson.
- Lessons cancelled with less than 12 hours' notice, or missed without notice, are not refunded or made up.
- If the pool is unavailable or unsafe when the instructor arrives, the lesson counts as a late cancellation.
- If we cancel because of lightning, severe weather, unsafe pool conditions or instructor illness, we will reschedule at no cost.
- For safety, lessons stop when there is thunder or lightning nearby. Time lost to weather after a lesson starts is made up when possible.
The pool
The client is responsible for providing access to a clean, safe pool with working equipment, and for getting any building, condo or HOA approval needed for the instructor to teach there. We carry liability insurance and can send a certificate of insurance to your building on request. Instructors may decline to teach in a pool they consider unsafe.
Supervision of minors
A parent, guardian or responsible adult must be present at the pool for the entire lesson for every swimmer under 18. The instructor is responsible for the swimmer only during the lesson time. Before and after the lesson, supervision is the client's responsibility.
Health and safety
- Tell us before the first lesson about any medical condition, injury, allergy or fear that could affect the swimmer.
- Do not bring a swimmer to a lesson when they are ill, especially with a stomach illness.
- Young children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper.
- Follow the instructor's safety directions during the lesson.
Swim lessons reduce the risk of drowning but do not make anyone drown-proof. Constant adult supervision, pool barriers and other layers of protection are always required around water.
Assumption of risk
Swimming and water activities involve inherent risks, including injury and drowning. By booking lessons, the client accepts these risks for themselves and the swimmer, to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Florida law.
Photos and video
Instructors may record short video during a lesson to analyze technique, only with the client's permission. We will not use photos or video of a swimmer on our website or social media without the client's written consent.
Conduct
We expect respectful behavior toward our instructors. We may end a lesson or stop providing services if a pool is unsafe or an instructor is treated in an abusive or unsafe way.
